Ogg Named MAAC Preseason Player of the Year; Sena Earns Preseason Goalkeeper Honors; Seahawks Picked MAAC Favorites

EDISON, N.J. – The Wagner women's water polo team has been selected as the 2026 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) preseason favorite, as announced by the conference following a vote of the nine head coaches.

The Seahawks topped the poll with 80 points and eight first-place votes, entering the season as the defending 2024 and 2025 MAAC Champions and one of the nation's most consistent programs. Wagner has captured 12 MAAC championships since 2003, the most of any conference member, including nine of the last 10 titles since 2014.

Last season, the Green & White turned in another dominant campaign, finishing 22-9 overall and 11-1 in MAAC play to secure their fourth consecutive MAAC Regular Season Championship. Wagner's sustained success has solidified its reputation as the conference standard entering the 2026 season.

Marist, the 2025 MAAC runner-up, was picked second with 72 points and one first-place vote, followed by Villanova in third with 56 points. LIU (54) and Iona (42) rounded out the preseason top five.

Individually, senior attacker Magali Ogg was named the MAAC Preseason Player of the Year, while senior Francesca Sena earned MAAC Preseason Goalkeeper of the Year honors.

Senior attacker Ogg was selected as the MAAC Preseason Player of the Year after an outstanding campaign for the Seahawks. The Sydney, Australia native earned ACWPC All-American honorable mention recognition last season, highlighted by a 61-goal performance. Ogg was also tabbed to the All-MAAC First Team and the MAAC All-Championship Team in 2025.

Meanwhile, Sena earned MAAC Preseason Goalkeeper of the Year honors for the third consecutive year. The Cosenza, Italy native tallied more than 160 saves last season and has been a fixture on the All-MAAC First Team in each of her first three seasons (2023–25). Sena was also recognized as the MAAC Co-Rookie of the Year in 2023.

The Seahawks will open their 2026 campaign this weekend at the Bruno Classic, where they are set to face Harvard and Bucknell on Saturday before matching up against Salem on Sunday.
