Women's Water Polo Drops First Round NCAA Contest To No. 1 Stanford

Indianapolis, IN - The Wagner women's water polo team saw its 2025 NCAA Tournament run come to a close on Friday afternoon, falling to No. 1 Stanford by a final score of 28-6 in the first round at the IU Natatorium.

Stanford opened the contest with a dominant first quarter, building a 10-1 lead and showcasing their offensive depth. Sophomore Ana Arias scored Wagner's first goal of the game with 3:44 remaining in the opening frame, putting the Seahawks on the board. The Cardinal extended their advantage to 17-1 by halftime, effectively controlling both ends of the pool.

Wagner found more success in the second half, putting away five goals over the final two quarters, but Stanford's firepower proved too much to overcome, as they carried a 22-4 lead into the fourth and closed out the match with a 28-6 victory.

The Seahawks conclude another historic season with a 22-9 record, capturing their 12th MAAC Championship in program history, earning back-to-back NCAA Tournament victories, and placing four student-athletes on All-MAAC teams.
