Men’s Tennis Places Four Seahawks On All-NEC Teams

Bridgewater, NJ – The Northeast Conference (NEC) announced its 2025 men's tennis postseason awards on Friday, with four Seahawks earning All-NEC recognition for their standout performances throughout the season.

Graduate students Carlos Rodriguez Gonzalez and Gabriele Zugarelli were named to the All-NEC Second Team in doubles, while freshmen Damian Janiszewski and Eddie Schmidt earned spots on the NEC All-Rookie Team.

Rodriguez Gonzalez and Zugarelli proved to be a formidable doubles team, finishing with an 8-6 record. Their season was highlighted by a 6-3 win at No. 1 doubles over nationally ranked BYU, who entered the match at No. 57 in the country.

Freshmen Damian Janiszewski and Eddie Schmidt were both selected to the NEC All-Rookie Team. Janiszewski compiled a 7-9 singles record and added four doubles wins while earning NEC Rookie of the Week honors three times. Schmidt delivered eight singles victories while competing on the No. 1 and No. 2 courts and tallied eight doubles wins alongside Rodriguez Gonzalez, Janiszewski, and junior Pablo Rodriguez Gonzalez.

This marks the first time since 2018 that Wagner men's tennis has had multiple players earn All-NEC postseason honors
