COLLEGE STATION, Texas — The Wagner men's tennis team will take on No. 11 Texas A&M in the first round of the 2026 NCAA Men's Tennis Tournament. The match will take place at the Mitchell Tennis Center in College Station, TX and will start at 1 p.m. CDT (2 p.m. EDT), streaming on 12thman.com.
Season Recap:
The Seahawks will play in their first-ever national tournament after securing their first-ever NEC Championship on April 18. Despite losing the doubles point, the Seahawks rallied off four out of five singles wins to secure the NEC crown over top-seeded Binghamton.
Sophomore

Pablo Rodriguez Gonzalez earned NEC All-Tournament team honors, with Schmidt earning tournament MVP. In the regular season, both Schmidt and Rodriguez would earn an NEC Player of the Week win, while Escher earned a program-record four Rookie of the Week awards.
Wagner ended the spring portion of the regular season 8-7, and 4-1 in the NEC, which included a three-match win streak over Le Moyne (4-0), Army (4-3) and LIU (4-1). In the NEC tournament, the Seahawks rattled off wins against no. 7 Stonehill (4-2) in the quarterfinals, no. 6 Le Moyne (4-1) in the semifinals and finally no. 1 Binghamton (4-2) in the finals.
Scouting the Aggies:
Texas A&M enters the NCAA Tournament as the no. 11 seed, which gave it the right to host the first two rounds. The Aggies finished the regular season as the no. 10 team in the nation according to the ITA Poll, and earned a bye in the SEC tournament, where they defeated Vanderbilt in the second round, and Oklahoma in the quarterfinals, before losing to top-seeded and top-ranked Texas in the SEC semifinals. The Aggies ended the year with three players on the All-SEC first team, and a player on the SEC All-Freshman team.
This will be the first time Wagner and Texas A&M face off in men's tennis. The winner of this match will face off against either Penn or Stanford on Saturday, May 2 at 4 p.m. CDT (5 p.m. EDT).
