Williamsburg, VA — Wagner's track and field teams posted strong performances in their second meet of the outdoor season. The women's team finished fourth, with the men's placing eleventh.
The women landed fourth of 30 total teams, while the men's eleventh place finish came in a field of 33 teams. Wagner combined for 19 top-ten finishes across the three-day meet's 48 total events.
Senior Ruth-Ann Chambers led the women with a first-place finishes in the 400-meter hurdles and a second-place finish in the 100-meter hurdles invite. with a 13.89 time.
In the 100-meter dash finals, freshman Christine Manneh's 12.04 time was good for sixth place. Freshman Mia Petersen finished in fifth place in the long jump invite final, finishing with an 18-foot, 1.25-inch jump.
Sophomore Rylee Ferretti earned a third place finish for her 17:06.91 time in the 5000-meter run invite finals. In the 1500-meter run's invite final, junior Laura Trenado finished second with a 4:31.20 time.
Senior Ana Blanco Duran finished ninth in the 800-meter run finals with a 2:17.83 time, followed by junior Angelina Olah with a 2:19.32 time in twelfth place. Freshman Kate Connolly finished first in the 5000-meter run with an 18:51.81 time.
Both teams had a big day in the relays. The women won the 4x100-meter relay with a 46.95 time, placing third in the 1600-meter sprint medley relay with a 4:06.12 time. The men placed sixth in that same event with a 3:31.79 time of their own.
The men also finished seven in the 6000-meter relay and eighth in the 4x200-meter relay.
Junior Hunter Longo earned sixth place in the 1500-meter run finals, finishing with a 3:58.77 time. Sophomore Nigel Boboli ran a 1:56.10 time in the 800-meter run to finish eighth, with freshman teammate Ignacio San Juan running a 1:56.57 time to finish twelfth.
In pole vault, junior Julio Martinez finished in second place with a 15-foot, eight-inch clearance.
Sophomore Jack Mason earned a place in the triple jump invite finals and finished in sixth place with a 46-foot, 4.25-inch jump. In the long jump invite finals, sophomore Khalid Brown's 22-foot jump was good for ninth place in the event. Mason finished in twelfth in the same final.
Senior Kharlin Watkins, off to a strong start in outdoor season, logged a 6-foot, 5.75-inch clearance in the high jump invite finals to finish in sixth place. He added a fourteenth-place finish in the triple jump invite final.
Next up, the Seahawks have the Bison Outdoor Classic in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania. It will begin Saturday, April 12 and wrap up Sunday, April 13.
