Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

Women's Lacrosse Earns Share Of NEC Regular Season Title For Third Time In Program History With Comeback Win On Senior Day

Staten Island, NY - The Wagner College women's lacrosse team won its third ever share of the Northeast Conference (NEC) regular season championship crown since the program's first season in 1998 with an 11-10 win over conference newcomer Mercyhurst on Grymes Hill on Saturday.

The Seahawks defeated the Lakers to complete their 2025 season with an 8-6 overall record, and a conference-best 8-1 mark in NEC play.

Prior to the game, seven seniors - Kendrall Tabobandung, Bryn Bockstie, Sophia Colver, Angelina Skowronski, Katie Siverson, Kendra Hall, and Ella Marino - were honored as Wagner Seahawks for the final time on Hameline Field.

After the opening draw control, Wagner jumped out to an early 3-0 lead thanks to Katie Siverson who scored all three of the Green & White's first quarter goals, unassisted.

The Morristown, NJ completed her fifth hat-trick of the season just 4:14 into the game. Heading into the postseason, Siverson leads the Seahawks' roster in goals scored with 31.

At the end of the first quarter, the Seahawks held onto a 3-0 lead over the Lakers.

In the second quarter, Mercyhurst would string together six consecutive goals while holding Wagner scoreless to head into the halftime locker room with a 6-3 advantage.

Wagner began the second half much like the first, scoring three straight times to tie the contest at six a piece. Siverson scored her fourth to start the run, as junior Kristina Pisano and sophomore Léa Cini were responsible for the Green & White's other two goals.

Mercyhurst would bounce back with two more scores of its own before Sophia Colver found the back of the net with 13 ticks remaining in the frame to make it an 8-7 game heading into the final period.

After two Lakers' scores less than ninety second into the fourth quarter, the Seahawks found themselves trailing, 10-7, with 13:29 to play.

From the 13:29 mark to the 8:12 mark, the Seahawks put together a 4-0 run to take the lead 11-10, as strong defense held the Lakers scoreless for the rest of the game, as Wagner prevailed by an overall score of 11-10 over Mercyhurst.

In the fourth quarter surge, Siverson, Marino, Pisano, and sophomore Amelia Logan all put crucial points on the board in the fourth quarter of the Seahawks' comeback victory on Senior Day.

Defensively, graduate student Ryan Murphy caused three turnovers and collected two draw controls while Siverson caused three turnovers and collected a ground ball. Sophomore Alex Wright led Wagner with five draw controls.

In net, Bockstie and sophomore Grace DeCarolis split duties as Bockstie saw action in the first half while DeCarolis played in the second. Bockstie recorded four saves while DeCarolis tallied one.

As a team, Wagner put four more shots on target and collected five more draw controls than Mercyhurst.

Wagner shares the 2025 regular season title with Stonehill and LIU, both programs finished their 2025 NEC seasons with a record of 8-1. For the second time in the NEC's 28-year women's lacrosse history, three teams hold a portion of the conference's regular season crown.

The last two times the Seahawks have won the NEC's regular season title, they split the honor with Bryant back in 2016 and 2018 seasons. In both 2016 and 2018, the Green & White emerged victorious in the NEC's postseason tournament.

The second-seeded Wagner Seahawks will matchup against the third-seeded LIU Sharks on Thursday, May 1 at W.B. Mason Stadium on the campus of Stonehill College for the semi-final round of the 2025 NEC Tournament.
