New Britain, CT - The Wagner College women's lacrosse team defeated the CCSU Blue Devils by a score of 17-5 on Saturday on Arute Field to clinch a spot in the 2025 Northeast Conference (NEC) Tournament.
After scoring a season-high 19 goals at Delaware State on Wednesday, the Seahawks followed up with a 17-goal day against the Blue Devils to secure a spot in the postseason tournament.Â
Wagner held CCSU scoreless throughout the entire opening quarter, leading 3-0 after 15 minutes of action - senior Ella Marino, sophomore Amelia Logan, and graduate student Nia Scott were responsible for the Green & White's first period goals.Â
The Seahawks would tally three goals in the second quarter while allowing the Blue Devils to score two. Marino scored two more goals in the frame while senior Kendra Hall added her first goal of the contest off of an assist from senior Katie Siverson.
At the end of the first half, Wagner held a 6-2 lead over CCSU.
In the second half, the Seahawks outscored the Blue Devils, 11-3 to prevail by a final score of 17-5.
Marino, Logan, senior Kendall Tabobandung, sophomore Léa Cini, and freshman Lexi Sowers all scored one goal in the third quarter. For Sowers, she scored her first goal in a Wagner uniform with 5:45 to go in the frame to extend the Seahawks' lead, 9-3.
In the fourth quarter, the Seahawks put on the finishing touches, finding the back of the net six times while holding the Blue Devils scoreless.Â
Marino, Siverson, Sowers, junior Kristina Pisano, and sophomore Sydney Ecker were responsible for Wagner's goals in the final period of game action, Ecker scored twice during the fourth quarter, her first two goals of her second season atop of Grymes Hill.
For Marino, the Oreland, PA native has scored 13 goals in her last three games.Â
Defensively, Siverson and freshman Brighid Smith caused two turnovers each while graduate student Ryan Murphy collected five draw controls, one ground ball, and caused one turnover.
In net, sophomore Grace DeCarolis recorded seven saves in 53:43 for her sixth win of the season, while freshman Hannah Smith stopped one shot in 6:17 of game action.
As a team, the Seahawks grabbed six more draw controls, took 13 more shots, and committed three less turnovers than the Blue Devils.Â
With the win, the Green & White climb to 6-6 on their 2025 season, with a 6-1 mark in conference play.
With the loss, the Blue Devils fall to 2-11 on their season with a 2-5 mark in NEC action.
The semifinal round of the NEC Tournament will be held on Thursday, May 1 at school sites.
For the 11th consecutive season, the Seahawks have earned a spot in the conference's postseason tournament.Â

Next up, the Seahawks will host the Howard Bison on Saturday, April 19 on Hameline Field. Opening draw control is scheduled for 11:00 am.
