Staten Island, NY - Junior attacker Emily Ryan scored her fourth goal of the game with 45 seconds remaining in the first overtime period to capture the Seahawks' second consecutive win on Wednesday night on Hameline Field.
Wagner defeated the reigning Northeast Conference (NEC) champions, the LIU Sharks, by a score of 11-10 thanks to a free-position goal that came off the stick of Emily Ryan with less than one minute to go in overtime.
In a high scoring first quarter that saw a combined eight goals, the Seahawks struck first as senior Katie Siverson scored her team-leading 14th goal of the 2025 season just three minutes into the contest.
LIU would respond with three goals of its own before Wagner regained the lead with its own 4-0 run to end the opening frame.Â
Senior Sophia Colver and sophomore Amelia Logan both found the back of the net two separate times in the latter half of the first quarter to guide the Seahawks to a 5-3 advantage after 15 minutes of game action.
In the second quarter, sophomore Léa Cini and senior Kendra Hall both scored their first goals of the game, as Hall continues to lead the Seahawks' roster in total points with 17 (10 G, 7 A).Â
For Cini, she has recorded three points during her sophomore season after adding two assists at Delaware back on March 1.
LIU outscored Wagner 5-2 in the second quarter to take an 8-7 lead at the intermission.
In the third quarter, the Seahawks held the Sharks scoreless while adding two goals themselves to take a 9-8 lead heading into the final quarter of play.
Graduate student Nia Scott was set up by senior Kristina Pisano to score her first goal of the 2025 season.
Emily Ryan scored her first goal of the game on a free position shot with 1:29 to play in the frame.
In the fourth quarter, the Sharks scored the first two goals to retake the lead, 10-9, before Colver completed her hat-trick on an unassisted goal with seven minutes to play in regulation.Â
For Colver, the Allen, TX native has scored in six out of her seven games played during this season.Â
After an Ava Taylor free position goal to give LIU the lead, Emily Ryan connected on her second free position shot of the game to tie the game at 10 with 1:48 remaining.
In overtime, sophomore goalkeeper Grace DeCarolis made her ninth save of the game after LIU won the draw control.
DeCarolis recorded eight of her nine saves in the second half of the contest.Â
Emily Ryan would then draw a foul on LIU's Ava Burns before capitalizing on her third free position goal of the contest after two-minutes-and-fifteen-seconds of overtime to grant the Seahawks their second win in as many games.
Senior Angelina Skowronski collected six draw controls, caused two turnovers, and added one ground ball while sophomore Alex Wright collected five draw controls after corralling a career-best six draw controls at SFU last week.
As a team, Wagner took nine free position attempts compared to LIU's five, and earned 14 draw controls to the Sharks' 11.
With the win, the Seahawks improved their record to 2-5 overall with a 2-1 mark in conference play.Â
The Sharks fall to 4-6 on their 2025 campaign, with a 2-1 record in NEC action.
Next up, the Green & White will host NEC opponent FDU on Saturday, March 29. Opening draw control is scheduled for noon against the Knights.
