Easton, PA - The Wagner College women's lacrosse team was defeated by the Lafayette Leopards by a score of 13-9 at the Metzgar Fields Athletic Complex on Wednesday night.
Senior Katie Siverson scored the first goal of the game for either side less than three minutes into the game. Lafayette would tie the game minutes later with 8:45 remaining in the period.
Junior Emily Ryan made the score 2-1 with 4:21 left in the first. Senior Ella Marino gets credit for the assist on the play.
To finish the first, senior Kendra Hall scored a man-down goal to lead 3-1 after one quarter of play.Â
In the second quarter, Hall would score two straight goals midway through the quarter to give her a hat-trick before the first half ended.Â
Senior Sophia Colver extended Wagner's lead to four, 6-2, with 4:07 remaining in the frame. Lafayette would tack on one more goal before the intermission.Â
In the second, Ryan, Marino, and freshman Sydney Mulroony were responsible for the three assists on Hall's two goals and Colver's one goal.
The Seahawks held a 6-3 lead at the half over the Leopards.
In the third quarter, Lafayette scored the first five goals of the half to take a 8-6 lead midway through the period.Â
Marino and Siverson scored back-to-back goals to knot up the contest at eight each with 1:49 left in the third.Â
Lafayette scored 30 seconds later to take a 9-8 advantage heading into the final period of action.
In the fourth, Lafayette outsourced Wagner 5-1 to prevail 13-9 at the end of regulation. Hall added her fourth goal on a free position attempt with just under seven minutes left in the game.Â
Junior Erin Rooney collected six ground balls and caused three turnovers for the Seahawks.
Sophomore Grace DeCarolis recorded eight saves in 60 minutes in goal, facing 28 shots total.
As a team, the Seahawks grabbed 21 ground balls and caused 11 turnovers, while scoring on two out of their six free position attempts.Â
With the loss, Wagner falls to 0-2 on its 2025 campaign.
Next up, the Seahawks will be back on the road to face-off against Delaware on Saturday, March 1. Opening draw control is scheduled for 11:00 am in Newark, DE.
