Swimming & Diving Opens NEC Championships with Strong Day One Performances

Geneva, OH - The Wagner Swimming & Diving program kicked off day one of the Northeast Conference (NEC) Championships on Wednesday.

On the women's side, the Seahawks dominated the 800-yard freestyle relay, securing first place with a time of 7:25.59. The team was led by sophomores Rebekka Luoto and Brooke Woolfe, along with freshmen Mia Goodale and Gaya Savran.

In the 200-yard medley relay, Luoto, along with seniors Shamiya Guirre, Allie D'Allegro, and freshman Lovisa Ramsten, earned second place with a time of 1:40.96.

For the men, the team displayed strong performances, beginning with the 200-yard medley relay. They finished in second place with a time of 1:29.13, led by graduate student Enrico Mancardo, sophomores Adrian Andres Moreno and Manuel Villalpando, and freshman Florian Schumich.

In the 800-yard freestyle relay, Schumich, Villalpando, junior Ruben Van Gool Jr., and sophomore Max Wameling also claimed second place with a time of 6:41.86.

After day one, both the men's and women's teams are currently holding third place. Day two of the competition will begin at 6:00 pm on Thursday, with prelims set to start at 10:00 am.
