Staten Island, NY - Phil Casella, head coach of the Wagner women's soccer team, has announced senior
Izzy Gomez and junior
Alana Goldsmith as the new captains for the 2025 season.
In 18 games last season, Gomez led the team with four goals while tallying two assists for 10 total points. The Mahwah, NJ native logged 1,307 minutes while recording 29 shots with 18 shots on goal. She was named the NEC Player of the Week once (Sept. 9) and a Prime Performer once during the year.
In her 14 appearances during last season, Goldsmith recorded one goal and two assists for a total of 4 points. The Nanuet, NY native logged 1,118 minutes on the pitch while registering 7 shots and 4 shots on goal. She was also named to the Academic All-District Team.
"When I think of captains, I think of leaders. We have had some good ones in the past and this year Izzy and Alana are right there to take over this team and make it theirs! I see leaders as people who have an outstanding work ethic and lead by example, have a desire to compete and win, and have total respect from their teammates and staff.
