STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. – The Wagner College women's basketball team (4-7, 0-0 NEC) wrapped up its 2025-26 non-conference slate by defeating SUNYAC member NJCU (4-4, 3-2 NJAC) by a score of 86-39 at the Spiro Sports Center on Tuesday afternoon.
Six Seahawks scored in double-figures as senior Irene Fernandez de Caleya, junior Lijirin Doyinsola Modesayor, and freshman Alivia Landy each scored 12 points while senior Angélie Ricard, redshirt junior Klea Kaci, and senior Hawa Balde-Camara chipped in 10 a piece.
Redshirt senior Priscila Varela had nine while graduate student Raneem Elbarky scored six, senior Malia Mpondo with three and senior Maria Doreste with two.
Fernandez de Caleya added eight rebounds and six assists to her stat line while Modesayor led the team with 12 rebounds.
Wagner held NJCU to a single point in the second quarter to take a 42-8 lead into halftime, with 34 of the Seahawks' 42 points coming from in the paint.
In the second half, the Seahawks outscored the Gothic Knights, 44-31, to prevail by a margin of 47, the largest of the season thus far.
On the defensive side, Wagner forced 28 NJCU turnovers, collected 12 steals, and held the Gothic Knights to 11-54 (20.4%) from the floor while shooting 37-77 (48.1%) from the field themselves.
As a team, the Seahawks scored 56 points in the paint, 32 points off of turnovers, while the bench contributed to 47 points total.
Wagner finishes non-conference play with four wins for the first time since 2022-23.
