BETHLEHEM, Pa. — Wagner cross country competed in its third meet of the 2025 season with the Paul Short Run, with junior Rylee Ferretti earning a top-ten finish for the Seahawks.
Ferretti continued a hot streak after being named the Northeast Conference's Athlete of the Week her last time out, leading the women's team with a ninth-place finish in the 6K with a 21:14.20 time. Hosted by Lehigh, the Paul Short Run is the largest intercollegiate cross country race in the nation.
Senior Laura Trenado followed in second for Wagner, clocking in a 21:46.30 to finish 33rd. Senior Angela Cavalieri rounded out the top three Seahawks, running a 23:01.60 race to finish 136th. Junior Magui Calvo-Jorge logged a 23:25.70 time and freshman Jaslene Merizalde finished with a 24:37.80 time.
Sophomore Florian Hinry led the men's team for the second time this season, clocking in with a 25:41.00 time in the 8K. Graduate Justin Morris was just behind, running a 25:43.50 race to finish 71st after being named NEC Prime Performer his last time out.
Freshman Joel Solomon was Wagner's third finisher, logging a 27:47.90 time. Freshman Ignacio San Juan ran a 27:53.90 race in his first meet of the season, with junior Eric Marquez rounding out the Seahawks' contingent with a 30:18.20 time.
Now just two meets out from the NEC Championships, the Seahawks will next compete at the IC4A/ECAC Cross Country Championships at Van Cortlandt Park on Friday, October 17 before the conference meet is held November 1 in Tyrone, Pennsylvania.
