Easton, MA - The Wagner College men's basketball team dropped its matchup against the Stonehill Skyhawks by a score of 73-61 on Thursday night.
With the loss, the Seahawks falter to 11-10 on the 2024-25 season, with a 3-5 mark in Northeast Conference (NEC) action. Stonehill climbs to 12-11 on its campaign with a 4-4 record in conference play.
Wagner held the lead for the entirety of the first period, as junior Keyontae Lewis hit his third layup of the half with 1:25 to go, the Seahawks held a 28-20 advantage.
Lewis led all Seahawks with six first half points, helping the Green & White outscore Stonehill in first half points in the paint, 12-8. Seniors Javier Ezquerra and Zaire Williams both added five first half points.
The Seahawks held a 28-25 lead after 20 minutes of action.
In the second half, the Skyhawks shot a perfect 22-22 from the foul line while doubling the Seahawks in points in the paint, 20-10.
Wagner shot 3-7 from the foul line in the second half and 3-9 throughout the whole game.
Junior guard Chas Stinson hit a pull-up jump shot with 14:39 remaining in the second, and Wagner was never able to regain the lead from that point on.Â
Junior Tyje Kelton nailed his third three-pointer with 5:43 left to make it a two-point game, 53-3. In the end, Stonehill would prevail 73-61 thanks to a 48-point second half performance.
Williams led the Seahawks' offensive attack with 12 points, scoring double-digits for the tenth consecutive game. Lewis followed closely with 11 points and three rebounds. Kelton finished with nine points as graduate students Ja'Kair Sanchez and Zae Blake scored eight each.
For Stonehill, sophomore forward Todd Brogna led the charge with 28 points and six rebounds.
Next up, Wagner will be back at the Spiro Sports Center on Saturday, February 1 for a 1:00 pm tip-off against Le Moyne.Â
