Gunner Daniel '20 Set To Coach In 2025 CFP National Championship

Staten Island, NY –  Gunner Daniel '20, former Wagner College football long snapper, will be coaching on the biggest stage of his career as he joins Ohio State for the College Football Playoff National Championship game against Notre Dame on Monday, January 20.

Daniel's journey to the National Championship began at Wagner College, where he transferred from Ball State as a redshirt freshman in 2018. In his first season on Grymes Hill, Daniel started all 11 games and recorded two tackles. He continued to make an impact in 2019, helping kicker Eric Silvester earn All-NEC honors while also posting two tackles himself. By 2020, Daniel's standout performance earned him Phil Steele All-NEC recognition.

After graduating from Wagner, Daniel moved on to Boston College. As the starting long snapper for the Eagles, he played in all 12 games and recorded four tackles.

Following his playing career, Daniel transitioned into coaching, working as a specialist coach for the Hammer Kicking Academy. He also served as a graduate assistant for the 2023 NFLPA Collegiate Bowl. In February 2023, Daniel joined Ohio State as a special teams assistant.

This season, Daniel has helped the No. 8 Buckeyes defeat top-ranked teams, including a 42-17 win over No. 9 Tennessee in the first round, an upset of No. 1 Oregon in the Rose Bowl (42-21), and a 28-14 victory over No. 5 Texas in the Cotton Bowl.

Daniel and the Buckeyes are set to face No. 7 Notre Dame in the National Championship that will air on ESPN at 7:30 PM ET on Monday, January 20.
