Football Heads to Central Michigan for Final Non-Conference Road Test

MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. — Wagner football will play its final non-conference road contest of the season on Saturday, September 20, traveling to Central Michigan for a 1:00 p.m. kickoff at Kramer/Deromedi Field at Kelly/Shorts Stadium. The game will air live on ESPN+ with Evan Stockton and Doc Holliday on the call.

The matchup marks the first-ever meeting between the Seahawks and the Chippewas. It will also be Wagner's 20th all-time game against an FBS opponent and the eighth season in program history the Seahawks have faced two FBS teams.

Central Michigan (1-2, 0-0 MAC) opened the year with three straight road games under first-year head coach Matt Drinkall. The Chippewas earned a 16-14 win at San Jose State before falling 45-17 at Pitt and 63-3 at Michigan. Through three games, CMU is averaging 117.3 passing yards and 118.3 rushing yards per contest. Last season, the Chippewas went 4-8 overall with a 2-6 mark in MAC play.

Wagner (0-3, 0-0 NEC) returns to the road following a 21-10 home setback to Marist on September 13. The Seahawks totaled 298 yards of offense in that contest, including 242 on the ground. Graduate student Andre Hines Jr. led the way with 106 rushing yards and a touchdown, while sophomore quarterback Jack Stevens added 59 rushing yards and threw for 56 more. Junior Jeremiah Colclough caught five passes for 33 yards. On defense, senior Sam Martin paced Wagner with eight tackles, graduate student Luke Jakubauskas recorded 1.5 tackles for loss, a sack, and a fumble recovery, and sophomore Ethan Appolon added a sack and a forced fumble.

Following the trip to Central Michigan, the Green & White will return home to host Norfolk State on Saturday, September 27, with kickoff set for 12:00 p.m.
