Track & Field Participates At Ramapo Season Opener

New York, NY -  The Wagner men's and women's track and field teams competed at the Ramapo Season Opener on Friday at the Armory Track

For the women, junior Laura Trenado had a breakout performance, winning the 1-mile with a time of 4:54.56. Trenado's time set a new school record in the 1-mile. Senior Ruth-Ann Chambers was dominant in the 60m hurdles, finishing first with a time of 8.67. In the sprints, freshman Christine Manneh and sophomore June Fernandez finished sixth and seventh in the women's 60m dash, with times of 7.89 and 7.95, respectively. Sophomore Angel Okafor placed seventh in the women's 400m dash with a time of 1:00.24, and graduate student Elizabeth Szambel took seventh in the 3000m with a time of 10:13.61. The women's 4x400m relay team also captured first place with a time of 3:56.50,

In the field events, freshman Mia Petersen had an outstanding performance, finishing third in the women's long jump with a distance of 5.40m (17-08.75) and sixth in the women's triple jump at 11.16m (36-07.50). Junior Julia Garcia finished fifth in the long jump with a distance of 5.18m (17-00.00). In the pole vault, junior Saranda Capani claimed fourth place with a vault of 3.00m (9-10.00), and senior Aileen Hoban finished fifth at 2.70m (8-10.25). Sophomore Dayana Rodriguez rounded out the field events, finishing sixth in the women's weight throw with a mark of 14.03m (46-00.50).

On the men's side, junior Alex Taddeo secured first place in the 200m dash with an impressive time of 21.81. He also made a mark in the men's 60m dash, finishing fourth with a time of 6.84. Freshman Keegan Beluga had a solid showing in the men's 5000m, finishing fourth with a time of 15:25.38, while junior Michael Hubert placed fourth in the 800m with a time of 1:56.56.

In the field events, sophomore Jack Mason impressed with a second-place finish in the men's long jump, leaping 7.07m (23-02.50). He also finished fourth in the men's triple jump with a distance of 13.78m (45-02.50). Junior Kharlin Watkins secured third place in the men's high jump with a clearance of 1.97m (6-05.50). The pole vault competition was highlighted by junior Julio Martinez, who claimed first place with a vault of 4.70m (15-05.00), while freshman Amir Shokry finished sixth at 3.85m (12-07.50). Junior Christopher Million also had a strong showing, placing fifth in the men's weight throw with a distance of 16.71m (54-10.00).

Next up, the Green & White will compete at the Dr. Sander Invitational at the Armory Track on Friday January 24 - Saturday January 25.
