Erie, PA - The Wagner women's basketball team (5-11, 2-2 NEC) outscored Mercyhurst (4-12, 1-4 NEC) 47-34 in the second half en route to a 71-63 victory Saturday afternoon at the Mercyhurst Athletic Center.

Taleah Washington recorded her second double-double of the season with 24 points and 11 rebounds along with five assist and 13 made free throws. 11 rebounds and 13 free throws made marks a new career-high for the District Height, MD native.

KC Carter added 12 points on 2-of-4 shooting from behind the arc while junior
Maria Doreste chipped in eight points in her first career start and freshman
Keana Foz added eight as well.
The Green & White jumped out a 5-0 run forcing the Lakers into an early timeout. Mercyhurst answered and knotted the game at 13 and found some cushion at the end of the first quarter, 20-15.
In the second quarter both teams scored nine points as the Lakers took a 29-24 lead into the locker room.
Mercyhurst scored the first points of the second half however Wagner responded with an 9-0 run to take a 33-31 lead with 6:57 left in the third quarter. The Lakers regained the lead and were up five with 3:54 left in the quarter. Carter then proceeded to go on a personal 8-0 run over the course of :43 seconds to give the Seahawks a 47-44 lead. The Brooklyn, NY native knocked down two three-pointers and then converted on a steal in the sequence.
The Seahawks continued their rally in the fourth, outscoring the Lakers 21-17 in the period to hold on for a 71-63 win.
The Green & White out rebounded the Lakers 37-22 and knocked down two more threes and free throws in the game.
Next up, Wagner will head to Loretto, PA for a 7 PM tip-off against Saint Francis U on Monday, January 20.
