Bridgewater, NJ - Junior Ryan Lane of the Wagner College track and field team was named Northeast Conference (NEC) Scholar Athlete of the Year, the conference announced on Thursday afternoon.
Lane becomes the third Wagner College athlete to earn the honor for the 2023-24 academic year. Emma Lofstedt of the Wagner College field hockey team earned this honor along with Dominic Palermo of the Wagner College cross country team.
Earlier today, Lane was named the NEC Indoor's Most Outstanding Field Performer (Jumps) along with earning Second Team All-NEC for High Jump and Pole Vault as the Seahawks won their fourth consecutive conference title.
Lane scored 28 across four individual events, finishing second in the pole vault and high jump, and third in the long jump and triple jump. The three-time NEC Field Athlete of the Week holds a 3.87 GPA as a Business Administration major. Lane, a native of Rochester, NH, has now appeared on the NEC Academic and Commissioner's Honor Roll in each of his four years on Grymes Hill.
