Villanova, PA - The Wagner College women's water polo team traveled to Villanova, PA for two Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) matches against #21 ranked LIU and Iona at the Pavilion Pool on Sunday, April 7.
The Seahawks took down the defending conference champions on Sunday before prevailing over the Gaels to improve to 24-4 on the season, and 10-0 in MAAC play.Â

Game One Results: #17 Wagner 14 - #21 LIU 11
The Seahawks jumped out to a 6-3 lead after eight minutes of competition. Senior Andrea Arias and sophomore Magali Ogg both added in a pair of goals in the first. Junior captain Casey Taylor and current MAAC Offensive Player of the Week junior Carlota Alonso were responsible for the Green & White's other two goals in the quarter. Wagner would score two more goals in the second quarter, and head into halftime with an 8-6 advantage. Senior Mar Navarro would score her first goal of the game, and Ogg would score her third.

The Seahawks outscored the Sharks by two in the third quarter to extend their lead to 13-10 at the end of the third quarter. Navarro would take over, scoring three goals within the frame. Ogg added her fourth and final goal of the game, as graduate student captain Pip Nash scored her first of the game halfway through the period. In the fourth quarter, both Wagner and LIU scored one goal, as the Seahawks would prevail 14-11 over the Seahawks. Navarro scored the lone goal in the last quarter for Wagner, bringing her game total to five goals.

Game Two Results: #17 Wagner 19 - Iona 13Â
Wagner started the contest by scoring the first three goals of the game, and led 5-1 after the first quarter. Navarro scored a pair and was joined by Arias, Alonso, and Nash to combine for the Seahawks' five goals. The Green & White would add another five goals in the second quarter, and went into halftime with a 10-5 lead over the Gaels. In the second quarter, the current MAAC Rookie of the Week netted two goals. Also in the second, Navarro scored her third of the game, Andrea Arias her second, and junior Lizzy Koerper scored her first of the afternoon. For Koerper, this was her 14th goal of the season.

In the third quarter, Wagner extended its lead to 16-7, scoring six goals within the frame. Carlota Alonso would tally her second goal of the game, as Andrea Arias would add one goal to complete a hat-trick of her own. Mar Navarro scored two more goals in the third quarter, to bring her game tally to five goals, and her day total to 10 goals. Freshman Catherine Mentz found the back of the net twice within the period as well. For the Grook Brak Riveir, South Africa native, she notched her sixth and seventh goals, respectively, of the 2024 campaign. In the fourth quarter, Wagner scored three goals as the Seahawks would prevail 19-13. Ana Arias scored her third goal of the game, as freshman Sarah Potter and junior Cephira Parker would cap the day off with their first goals of the season, respectively, in the final period of the game.Â

In net, sophomore Francesca Sena spent the entirety of the weekend in goal for the Green & White. On Sunday, Sena denied 20Â shots while adding one steal and one assist across two wins.Â
Next up, Wagner will wrap up its 2024 regular season at La Salle as the Seahawks will face-off against VMI on Saturday, April 13 before taking on La Salle and Villanova on Sunday, April 14 at the Kirk Pool in Philadelphia, PA.
