Brooklyn, NY - The Wagner women's water polo team competed in the second half of their Senior Day weekend at the LIU Pool to face-off against the VMI Keydets and the #22 ranked LIU Sharks on Sunday, March 24.
Yesterday on Saturday, March 23, the Seahawks played against La Salle and Villanova as they recognized Graduate student Pip Nash, senior Grace Coleman, senior Mar Navarro, and senior Andrea Arias were recognized for their efforts and achievements during their career at Wagner.Â
The Seahawks prevailed against the Explorers 19-14, before defeating the Wildcats later on in the day, 17-11.

Game 1 Results: #18 Wagner 24 - VMI 14
Wagner exploded for nine goals in the first quarter. Senior Grace Coleman scored first for the Seahawks. Followed by graduate student Pip Nash, junior Casey Taylor, Magali Ogg, freshman Ana Arias, and freshman Catherine Mentz. Nash, Ogg, and Arias would all score twice during the quarter. In the second, the Green & White added four more goals thanks to two from Arias, one from sophomore Martina Parisi, and one sophomore Genevieve Bland. At the half, Wagner led 13-6, behind four goals from Ana Arias..
In the third quarter, Wagner poured on eight more goals to lead 19-10 heading into the final quarter of play. In the third, goal scorers for the Green & White included Mentz, Arias, freshman Maylen Sampedro Tarela, junior Lizzy Koerper, junior Emma Stec, Bland, and junior Maggie Pike who scored twice in the quarter. Arias capped off her seven goal performance with two in the final quarter, joined by freshman Madison Armijo who scored her second of the season.Â
Additionally, senior Mar Navarro dished out four assists to bring her team-high season total to 55 assists on the year. Parisi also had three assists herself throughout the contest.Â
In net, Jillian Hemming was credited with her second win of the season with two saves and one assist. Sophomore Frahncesca Sena added five saves and three assists.Â

Game 2 Results: #18 Wagner 13 - #22 LIU 10
Wagner held a 4-2 advantage after one quarter thanks to Nash, Taylor, and junior Carlota Alonso who were responsible for the Seahawks first quarter goals. Nash would score twice in the frame. Ana Arias scored the lone goal in the second quarter for the Seahawks as they went into halftime with a 5-4 lead over the Sharks.Â
In the third quarter, Wagner outscored LIU by two to extend their lead to 10-7. Alonso would score twice, Ana Arias and Taylor would also score in the quarter. Senior Andrea Arias found the back of the net for the first time of the afternoon late in the period. In the final quarter, Nash, Andrea Arias, and Alonso would put the exclamation point on the contest for the Seahawks. Wagner and LIU both scored three goals a piece, as the Green & White would prevail over the Sharks, 13-10.Â
Additionally, Alonso finished the game with four steals, two sprint wins, and two assists. Ogg, Andrea Arias, and Navarro also dished out two assists during the game.Â
In net, Sena recorded nine saves with one steal while playing the entirety of the contest.

Next up, Wagner will travel to Princeton, NJ to take on the Tigers at 6:30 pm on Thursday, March 28 at DeNunzio Pool.
