#18 Women's Water Polo Set To Host Senior Day

Staten Island, NY - The Wagner College women's water polo team will host their 'Senior Day' on Saturday, March 23 as the Seahawks will play host to La Salle and Villanova at the Spiro Sports Center.

Wagner will honor graduate student Pip Nash, senior Grace Coleman, senior Mar Navarro, and senior Andrea Arias for their efforts throughout their career with the Green & White.

On Saturday, the Seahawks will play their 'Green & White' game at 10:00 am against La Salle. After, Wagner will compete against Villanova at 2:00 pm, with the aforementioned seniors being honored prior to the game.

On the season, Wagner has accumulated an 18-3 overall record, with a 4-0 record in conference. The Seahawks are 14-2 at neutral sites and 4-1 in away pools.

Against nationally ranked opponents, the Green & White is 5-3 during the 2024 campaign. Most recently, Wagner defeated #25 Marist, 11-7, at the VMI Tournament on Saturday, March 16.

Over the course of the last eight seasons, Wagner has earned an impressive 89-1 record over MAAC opponents. Also, Wagner has not lost a regular season conference match in their last 35 games.

For the ninth consecutive season, the Wagner Seahawks were listed as a part of the CWPA Top-25 Preseason Poll, coming in at 20 prior to the 2024 regular season. Currently, the Seahawks are listed as the #17 ranked team in the nation, according to the ACWPC.

Individually, sophomore Francesca Sena has been the recipient of five MAAC Defensive Player of the Week awards.

Junior Carlota Alonso has earned one MAAC Offensive Player of the Week honor, as senior Andrea Arias has earned two. Arias received the most recent honor back on Wednesday, March 20, for scoring 14 goals with two assists and 11 drawn exclusions across three games at the VMI Tournament.

Freshman Ana Arias has acquired the conference's Rookie of the Week award twice during her first-year on Grymes Hill. On the season, Arias is fifth on the team in scoring. Arias has scored 16 goals while dishing out 17 assists with 15 steals and 8 drawn exclusions in 21 appearances.

After Wagner competes against La Salle and Villanova, the Seahawks will take part in two more games on Sunday, March 24 at the LIU Pool in Brooklyn. The Green & White will face-off against VMI at 10:00 am before concluding the weekend with a contest against LIU at 5:00 pm.
