Madison, NJ - Freshman Flavio Vinci and junior Katerina Cervenkova of the Wagner fencing program advanced to the finals and semi-finals round, respectively, at the Mid-Atlantic/South Regionals, hosted by Drew University, on Saturday.
For Vinci, the Grottaferrata, Italy, native fought in an extra barrage round to make the semi-finals. From there, Vinci clinched a spot in the final round, finishing 11th overall out of 40 fencers in the final event of the day.
Cervenkova followed up her semi-final appearance in pool play from last year with another top four finish behind an undefeated first two rounds. Overall, Cervenkova finished in 16th place overall out of 41 fencers.
The Seahawks had six more athletes reach the quarter final stage of the respective competitions.
On the women's side, freshmen Natalja Stiller, Renata Ziganova and Morrigan Adams, and sophomore Sofia Lopez Meneses emerged as top-16 contenders in their respective pools.
For the men, freshmen Jaime Prim and Ismael Chavez earned quarter final berths in the épée competition.
The Green & White will wait and see if any athletes will head to nationals, which will be held from March 21-24 at French Field House in Columbus, OH.
