Easton, MA – The Wagner College men's basketball team suffered a 71-61 road loss at Stonehill on Saturday afternoon.
Junior
Melvin Council Jr. led the Seahawks with 19 points, while juniors
Tahron Allen and
Javier Ezquerra added 14 and 11 points, respectively.
Trailing by eight with 11 minutes to play, the Seahawks tied the game on an Ezquerra three with nine minutes to play before taking the lead at 50-49 on a bucket by Council with 8:29 to play.
The Skyhawks answered and a late 12-0 Stonehill run proved to be the difference, giving Stonehill its first victory in Northeast Conference (NEC) play, while the Seahawks fall to 4-5 in NEC action.
Wagner shot 21-57 (36.8%) from the field on the afternoon and held a 14-6 advantage in points from turnovers.
The Seahawks will be back in action on Thursday, February 8, at FDU. Tip-off between the Seahawks and Knights is set for 7:00 pm.
