Men’s Basketball Earns Tough 66-62 Road Victory At FDU

Hackensack, NJ – The Wagner College men's basketball team earned a 66-62 road victory at FDU on Thursday night at the Bogota Savings Bank Center.

Junior Tahron Allen led all scorers with a season-high 22 points, which included 3-4 accuracy from long range. Sophomore Julian Brown added 15 points, while junior Melvin Council Jr. contributed 10 points in the victory.

Wagner led for 30:53 minutes throughout the contest and jumped out to a 27-23 halftime lead.

After the Knights tied the game two minutes into the second half, a 9-0 Wagner run that included five straight Allen points gave the Seahawks a 40-31 lead with 14:27 to play.

FDU fought back into the game and cut the Wagner lead to three with under two minutes to play, but two clutch baskets by junior Javier Ezquerra and Allen kept the Seahawks in front, before three straight Brown free throws put the game away for good.

The Seahawks converted on 23-57 (40.4%) of shots throughout the game, including a 14-25 (56%) clip in the second half, while limiting the Knights to 39.3% (22-56) from the field throughout the game.

Wagner held a 38-35 edge on the glass, as Brown led the way with seven rebounds on the night.

Next up, Wagner will travel to Saint Francis U on February 15 at 7:00 pm.
