Women’s Basketball Back In Action Sunday At Lafayette

Easton, PA -  The Wagner women's basketball team will hit the road for a 2:00 PM tip-off against Lafayette on Sunday.
 
Block Party

The Seahawks lead the conference in total blocks (28) and blocks per game (4.0). Fabozzi and sophomore Lijirin Doyinsola Modesayor are number 1 and 4 in blocks per game in the conference. Modesayor averages 1.4 blocks per game and Fabozzi averages 0.9. Shamique Cummings, Hawa Balde-Camara and Raneem ElBarky are also in the top 12 in blocks per game.
 
Fabozzi Continues To Impress

Graduate student Julia Fabozzi is fifth in the NEC in points per game with 12.3. The Staten Island native earned NEC Prime Performer honors with 21 points against Northeastern. Fabozzi became the ninth Seahawk in program history to make 12 free throws in a game against the Huskies. In the season opener, Fabozzi set a career-high in points with 22. Fabozzi has scored at least 12 points in three of her last four games. Fabozzi returns after playing seven games last season after missing most of the year with a knee injury.

The Emergence Of Keana Foz 

Foz was named to the 2024 FIU Thanksgiving Classic All-Tournament Team. Foz became the first Seahawk to score seven points, grab 10 rebounds, and dish out five assists in a game since Zhaneia Thybulle on February 11, 2023 against LIU. Along with being first in the conference in steals, Foz ranks eighth in assists per game (3.0), and 17th in rebounds per game (4.0). 

Doyinsola Modesayor Finding Her Groove

Modesayor led the Seahawks in scoring with 10 points in their last contest. She is averaging 7.0 points, 2.5 blocks and 2.5 steals over her last two games.

Seahawks Amongst The NEC

Wagner is third in the conference with a three-point success rate of 33.3%, making 43 of 129 attempts. The Seahawks connect on 6.1 three-pointers per game, good for fifth in the NEC. With 7.00 steals per game, the Green & White rank fifth in the circuit in that category. Wagner is fifth in combined team rebounds with 32.8 per game.

Scouting Lafayette

The Leopards are 2-6 on the season, most recently falling to FDU, 69-62. Senior guard Abby Antognoli leads Lafayette with 13.5 points per game. Antognoli scored her 1000th point and recorded her first career double-double in her last game against FDU. Antognoli also leads the team in assist per game(3.1) while junior guard Kay Donahue leads in rebounds per game (4.8).

The Series

This is the 10th meeting all-time between the two squads. The Leopards lead the series 5-4. The teams last played each other on November 17, 2018 with the Leopards taking a 66-43 victory on Staten Island.

What's Next

The Seahawks will host NJIT on Thursday, December 12 at the Spiro Sports Center. Tip-off is set for 7:00 PM.
