Staten Island, NY - On Saturday, October 9, the top-seeded Wagner College field hockey team fell in the NEC Championship game to the third-seeded Fairfield Stags.

After a scoreless first quarter with zero combined shots on goal, Alice Pifferi of Fairfield converted on a penalty stroke in the 22nd minute, giving the Stags the early lead.

Pilar Lorenzini put in the equalizer with a penalty stroke of her own early in the second half, her fourth goal of the season.Â

Shortly after, the Stags retook the lead when Rylee Laloup found the back of the net on an assist by Courtland Schumacher.Â

Saar van Dalen with eight minutes remaining, the Seahawks failed to score again, falling in the championship by a final score of 2-1.
