Piscataway, NJ – The Wagner College men's basketball team opened the 2024-25 season with a 75-52 loss at #25 Rutgers on Wednesday evening.
Junior
Keyontae Lewis led the Seahawks with 12 points, while senior
Tyje Kelton grabbed a team-high eight rebounds.
Wagner jumped out to an early lead, as a three by graduate student
Zae Blake gave the Green and White a 10-5 lead six minutes into the game.
Blake was one of four Seahawks to debut on the night, as junior
R.J. Greene added eight points, while senior
Ja'Kair Sanchez contributed three points. Freshman Xavier Fitch also saw limited action on the night.
Rutgers closed out the half on an offensive run to take a 36-19 lead at the midway mark and did not look back in the second half, as freshman Dylan Harper led all players with 20 points in his collegiate debut.
Next up, the Seahawks will face Manor College on Saturday, November 9, with tip-off set for 1:00 pm.
