Saar van Dalen Named NEC Goalkeeper Of The Year; Trio Of Seahawks Receive All-NEC Honors

Bridgewater, NJ - Freshman goalkeeper Saar van Dalen headlined the Northeast Conference's (NEC) 2024 All-NEC postseason awards by earning the Defensive Player of the Year honor. 

Van Dalen becomes the first Seahawk to attain the conference's Goalkeeper of the Year honor in the program's seven year history. Van Dalen was named the NEC Defensive Player of the Week four times during the 2024 campaign to go along with two NEC Rookie of the Week nods. 

On the season, the Houten, Netherland native has started all 17 of the Seahawks games, rejecting eighty shots on 187 shots faced, allowing only 25 goals for a program record goals allowed average of 1.43. 

Van Dalen added eleven wins, four shutouts, a save percentage of 76.2%, and over 1045 minutes of game time in the cage for the Green & White, including a career-high 10 saves against Rider in the conference's regular season title match,.

Along with van Dalen, graduate student Cami Valor and sophomore Charlotte Muller found themselves on the conference's first-team as a forward and midfielder, respectively. 

Junior Pilar Lorenzini claimed a spot on the second team as a defender. 

For Muller, this is her second All-NEC honor, as she placed herself on the NEC's Second Team at the conclusion of the 2023 season. Van Dalen, Valor, and Lorenzini all receive their first All-NEC honor of their collegiate careers.

Muller found herself third on the Seahawks in points scored (22) with eight goals and six assists on the season. 

Muller was named the NEC Offensive Player of the Week after scoring two goals in an overtime win against Stonehill and scoring one goal with one assist against Saint Francis U in the same week.

The Bremen, Germany native started all 17 games for Wagner, totaling 974 minutes with a shot on target percentage of 65.2%.

Cami Valor transferred from Hofstra and made an instant impact on the Seahawks frontline, starting all 17 of Wagner's games.

Valor led the Green & White in goals (10), scoring five goals in Wagner's last seven games. 

Additionally, the Rosario, Argentina native had dished out three assists, taken a team-high 59 shot attempts, and took a team-high 38 shots on goal for a shot on goal percentage of 64.4%. 

Valor found herself second on the Seahawks in total points with 25, trailing only sophomore Floortje Leunisse in that category.

In total, Valor has seen the field for 669 minutes in her one year on Grymes Hill.

Lorenzini logged the most minutes of any Seahawk on the 2024 roster with 1046 minutes of game time. Lorenzini scored the first goal in the regular season title match to grant Wagner a 1-0 lead over Rider in the third quarter.

On the season, Lorenzini scored three goals with five assists while starting all 17 of the Green & White's matches. Lorenzini picked up one defensive save this season and was instrumental in helping set a new program record four consecutive shutouts throughout a nine-day stretch in September. 

Next up, van Dalen, Muller, Valor, Lorenzini, and the rest of the top-seeded Seahawks will take on the fourth-seeded LIU Sharks in the semifinal round of the NEC Tournament on Thursday, November 7. Opening pass-back for that game is set for 11:00 am.
