Men’s Water Polo Competes In Three Contest Over The Weekend

Baltimore, MD, Washington, DC & Annapolis, MD - The Wagner men's water polo team competed in three contests this weekend facing Johns Hopkins and George Washington on Saturday and Navy on Sunday.

Game 1 Results: Wagner 15 - Johns Hopkins 9

Senior Luis Camino Sosa scored 16 seconds into the game for the opening goal. Teams would then trade goals and the score stood at four a piece at the end of the first quarter. The Seahawks outscored the Blue Jays 2-1 in the second to take a 6-5 lead into the break.

Wagner took control of this game in the third quarter. Senior Kyle Chambers scored three goals in the quarter and senior Kristian Stanczewski tacked on one as well. The Green & White again outscored Johns Hopkins in the final quarter en route to a 15-9 victory.

Game 2 Results: Wagner 8 - George Washington 7

The Seahawks scored the lone goal in the opening period courtesy of freshman Smith Connors. In the second quarter, The Revolutionaries went on to outscore Seahawks 4-1 and lead 4-2 at the half.

Chambers brought Wagner within one with a goal before George Washington scored twice more. The Green & White rallied in the fourth tallying four goals and knotting the game at seven to force overtime. In overtime, the Revolutionaires were first to the board and took an 8-7 victory.

Game 3 Results: Wagner 11 - Navy 17

Navy took control of this contest jumping out to a 6-3 lead after the opening period. In the second quarter, the Midshipmen tacked on four more scores while shutting out Wagner in the process. 

Sophomore Patrick Ray found the back of the net to open up the second half for the Green & White. Each team would score four times in the quarter to put Navy up 14-7 and the end of three. Wagner outscored Navy 4-3 in the final quarter but fell short 17-17.

Next Up: The Seahawks will finish out regualr season action with four contest at home. Wagner will face Fordham and Mercyhurst on Friday November 8 and Bucknell and Mount Saint Mary's on Sunday November 10. The Senior Day game for Wagner will be on November 10 against Bucknell at 10:00 AM.
