Miami, FL - The Wagner College women's basketball team will compete in the 2024 FIU Thanksgiving Classic from Friday, November 29 to Sunday, December 1 at the Ocean Bank Convocation Center.

The Seahawks will take on host school FIU at noon on Friday before facing off against either Abilene Christian or Sacramento State on Sunday.

Fabozzi Continues To Impress

Graduate student Julia Fabozzi was named an NEC Prime Performer last week after scoring 21 points against Northeastern. Fabozzi became the ninth Seahawk in program history to make 12 free throws in a game against the Huskies. The Staten Island native is fourth in the NEC in points per game with 14.4. Additionally, Fabozzi ranks 72 nationally in free throws made with 25. 

The Emergence Of Keana Foz 

Freshman Keana Foz became the first Seahawk to score seven points, grab 10 rebounds, and dish out five assists in a game since Zhaneia Thybulle on February 11, 2023 against LIU. Foz is third in the conference in steals per game (2.0), sixth is assists per game (3.2), and 21st in rebounds per game (3.8).

Seahawks Amongst The NEC

Wagner allows an average of 68.6 points per game, ranking the Green & White third in the circuit. The Seahawks hold their opponents to 42.3% percent from the field, good for third in the NEC. Wagner allows a 26.5% success rate from beyond-the-arc which ranks second in the conference. At 36 rebounds per game, the Seahawks are the third best combined rebounding team in the NEC.

Block Party

The Seahawks lead the conference in total blocks (17) and blocks per game (3.4). Fabozzi and sophomore Lijirin Doyinsola Modesayor share the top spot in blocks per game in the NEC. Fabozzi and Doyinsola Modesayor have blocked five shots across their five games this season

Scouting FIU

FIU currently holds a 1-4 record with its win coming in the season opener against Florida National University. Junior guard Parris Atkins leads the Panthers in points per game (15.0) and rebounds per game (6.4) . In FIU's last game, Atkins scored 17 points and added five rebounds, three assists, and four steals to her statline.

The Series

The Wager Seahawks and FIU Panthers have never faced-off before. Friday's game marks the first contest between these two programs.

What's Next

The Seahawks will continue their road stint with a matchup with the Lafayette Leopards on Sunday, December 8 in Easton, PA. Tip-off is set for 2:00 pm.
