Men’s Water Polo Falls To Top-Seeded Fordham In MAWPC Tournament

Annapolis, MDThe Wagner men's water polo team were defeated by the first-seeded Fordham Rams, 19-11, in the MAWPC Tournament second round on Saturday at Lejeune Pool. 

Fordham opened the game by scoring the first goal before Wagner quickly responded with three straight goals to take a 3-1 lead. The Seahawks continued to play well and led 4-3 at the end of the quarter.

In the second quarter, Fordham gained momentum to take a 9-6 lead into halftime. 

In the third quarter the Rams outsourced Wagner 5-3 to push their lead to 14-9.

Wagner scored two goals in the final quarter but ultimately fell 19-11. Fordham finished the regular season as the No.3 ranked team in the nation.

The Seahawks will return to the pool on Sunday November 24 at 12:00 PM against the second-seeded George Washington. In the two game season series, George Washington won both contests, 13-12 on September 28 and 8-7 on November 2. The winner of this game will earn third place in the conference tournament. 

The first-seeded Fordham Rams will play the third-seeded Navy Midshipmen on Sunday November 24 at 1:30 PM for the MAWPC Tournament title.
