Staten Island, NY – Five Seahawks scored in double figures as the Wagner College men's basketball team earned an 81-46 win over Springfield on Saturday at the Spiro Sports Center.
Senior
Zaire Williams led Wagner with 19 points, while senior
Ja'Kair Sanchez added 12 points off the bench. Senior
Tyje Kelton contributed 11 points, while junior
Keyontae Lewis and senior
Javier Ezquerra scored 10 points apiece.
Wagner jumped out to a 40-32 halftime advantage and pulled away in the second half, as the Seahawks held the Pride to 6-22 (27.3%) shooting from the field in the second half.
The Seahawks had an 18-2 edge in steals, a 32-6 advantage in points off turnovers, and 46-16 lead in points in the paint while outrebounding Springfield 42-25.
Next up, Wagner will head to Big East member Georgetown on Tuesday, with tip-off set for 7:00 pm on FS1.
