R.J. Greene's buzzer-beater gave the Wagner College men's basketball team a 60-58 victory at Boston University on Tuesday night.
Greene tied the game with 0.6 seconds to play, then won the game for Wagner in a wild sequence. Greene scored all of his season-high 19 points in the second half, as the Seahawks erased a 25-20 halftime deficit to come back for their first road win of the season.
Trailing 38-28 with 14 minutes to play, Greene scored four straight points to move Wagner back into striking distance, before a three by senior
Javier Ezquerra moved the Green and White within three points at 44-41 with 7:25 to play.
Down 57-54 with under a minute to play, Greene got the Seahawks within one with a layup. After the Terriers missed three of four free throws, Greene became the hero in the final seconds.
Greene led Wagner with 19 points and eight rebounds, while senior
Zaire Williams added 18 points. Ezquerra was the third Seahawk in double figures with 10 points and six assists.
Wagner converted on 14-30 (46.7%) of field goals in the second half, while limiting the Terriers to 17-47 (36.2%) from the floor throughout the contest.
