Erie, PA - The Wagner College women's bowling team opened its season at the Golden Bear Invitational Tournament at Rolling Meadows Lanes over the weekend, hosted by Kutztown University.

The Seahawks competed in a combination of ten traditional and Baker-style matches across the two days of competition, placing ninth out of twelve teams.

Overall, the Green & White went 3-7 at the tournament, earning two wins against Dominican and a win against Adelphi. Wagner will play Adelphi again at Rab's Country Lanes on Sunday, October 27, in a match featuring Molloy.

The Seahawks went 2-2 in the Baker format, posting scores of 869, 874, 849, and 843, for an overall average game pinfall of 171.8 pins. 

Wagner dropped all five of their traditional matches with scores of 818, 840, 822, 699, 839, and 967 in its extra game with six participants. The Seahawks averaged a game pinfall of 160.8 pins.

Individually, juniors Samantha McDermott and Angelia Lubrano stood out for the Seahawks. The duo posted overall scores of 883 and 877 respectively, each ranking top-25 in the 78-player field.

Seniors Kristina Colon and AG Carhart each ranked top-35, with a 825 and 791 in their five games at the tournament.

Senior Kaitlyn Gonsalves and freshmen Rebekah Newman and Madison Gigliello rounded out the Seahawks' efforts in their inaugural tournament of the season, posting average game pinfalls of 135, 129, and 108, respectively.

Next up, Wagner will compete in a tri-match against Adelphi and Molloy at Rab's Country Lanes on Sunday, October 27.
