Staten Island, NY - The Wagner College women's and men's track & field teams competed at the Wagner College Invitational after a short in-season break on Friday, December 5 at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex.
On the women's side, twelve teams took part in the meet while the men's side had thirteen compete.Â
Junior Ruth-Ann Chambers placed first out of 10 finishers in the 400m dash, crossing the finish line in 59.27. In the same event, senior Sofia Garcia followed in sixth place, with a time of 1:05.23.Â
Junior Gia Comerford earned second place in the mile with a time of 5:04.01. Freshman Victoria Dziubela, sophomore Peyton Miller, and junior Lara Jacobs all placed within the top six in the event, out of twelve finishers.Â
In the 800m run, the sophomore duo of Angelina Olah and Angel Okafor placed in fourth and fifth, respectively. Olah's time was 2:18.15 as Okafor's was 2:21.17.
Freshman Victoria Gontowicz ran an 8.41 60m dash preliminary and an 8.42 final round, placing herself eighth overall out of 17 possible participants.Â
Sophomore Saranda Capani placed 10th in the 200m dash, clocking in a time of 28.49.
In the field, junior Agathe Yabit finished the triple jump in third and the long jump in sixth. Yabit's triple jump distance was 10.28m while her long jump mark was 4.98m.
Freshman Dayana Rodriguez placed fourth in the weight throw, with a distance of 12.99m.

On the men's side, the Seahawks came away with first place in four events throughout the meet.Â
Senior Jason Marchese received first place in the 200m dash with a time of 21.72, finishing alone atop 20 possible finishers. Marchese also ran in the 60m dash, posting a 7.00 time in the preliminary round, and a 7.05 time in the final round for a third place finish overall.
Senior Ryan Lane earned first place in the long jump with a mark of 6.97m, as well as a second in the high jump after clearing 1.96m.Â
Sophomore Christopher Milillo launched the weight throw 16.56m to place himself atop the 10 competitors in the event. Milillo also placed fifth in the shot put with a mark of 12.99m.
Freshman Jack Mason continues his strong first year of competition with a first place finish in the triple jump. Mason's distance he cleared was 13.73m. Mason also found himself in the 60m dash, where he clocked in a 7.11 preliminary round and a 7.05 final round, tying Marchese for third.
Junior Johnny Sokoll and graduate student Dominic Palermo placed third and fourth, respectively, in the mile. Sokoll ran a 4:11.06 mile meanwhile Palermo finished directly behind with a time of 4:12.86.
Sophomore Alex Taddeo ran the 60m dash preliminary in 7.10, and the final round in 7.07, for a sixth place finish overall. Taddeo also earned fourth in the 200m dash, clocking in a time of 22.45.
Senior Muhammad Qadri found himself in fifth out of the 16 runners in the 800m run, with a time of 1:59.04.
In the field, junior Kharlin Watkins earned second in the long jump and third in the triple jump. Watkins' long jump mark was 6.77m, meanwhile his best height in the high jump was 1.86m.
Freshman Andrew Wood placed fourth in the triple jump with a distance of 12.19m. Fellow freshman Khalid Brown joined Watkins and Lane in the long jump, placing in third with a mark of 6.73m.
Next up, the Seahawks will compete in the Penn 10 meet on Saturday, January 13 at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex.
