Staten Island, NY - The Wagner men's basketball team led 24-21at the half, but it wasn't enough, as Merrimack earned a 60-44 victory at the Spiro Sports Center on Thursday night.
Sophomore Julian Brown led the Seahawks with 11 points on the night, with sophomore Keyontae Lewis grabbing a team-high eight rebounds.
An early 8-2 run, highlighted by a coast-to-coast lay-in from junior Melvin Council Jr. helped put Wagner in front 15-8 eight minutes into the game. The Warriors answered and closed the gap down to three points at the midway mark.
In the second half, the Warriors pulled away, as a 17-2 run gave Merrimack a double-digit advantage, which proved to be the difference, as both teams split the regular season series.
Wagner moves to 9-9 (3-3) on the year with the loss, while Merrimack improves to 11-10 (5-2).
The Green & White will hit the road for its next contest, where they will take on CCSU on Saturday, January 27 at 1:00 pm.
