Staten island, NY - The Wagner College field hockey team dropped a non-conference contest to Lehigh 2-1 on Sunday afternoon.
Sophomore goalkeeper Sam Black stopped two shots in the opening 15 minutes as Wagner tallied one shot.
In the second quarter Lehigh found the back of the net in the second quarter to take a 1-0 lead into halftime. Through the first half Sam Black stopped four shots for the Seahawks.
Lehigh doubled its lead 8:48 into the third quarter. Wagner tallied just one shot in the third. In the fourth quarter, the Seahawks were able to find the back of the net as junior Emma Lofstedt converted on a penalty stroke with 3:00 remaining in the fourth quarter.
Despite tallying six shots in the fourth quarter, the Seahawks were unable to level the score. Sam Black stopped nine shots in the contest as she made five in the fourth quarter.
Wagner will be back in action on Friday, September 29 when they open Northeast Conference (NEC) play at Saint Francis U.
