Cambridge, MA - The Wagner College men's water polo team is set to begin their seventh season in program history at the Bruno Classic at Harvard this upcoming weekend. On Saturday, the Seahawks will battle MIT and Harvard, then face off against McKendree and Pepperdine during day two of competition.

Josh Hower enters his second year at the helm of the Wagner men's water polo team. Hower fields a team that sees 16 returners from last year's roster. Sophomore Laszlo Strasser returns for his second year after being awarded the MAWPC Rookie of the Year, along with landing himself on the All-MAWPC Second Team. Strasser ended his freshman season with a team high 70 goals and 37 assists, along with 20 steals and 14 drawn exclusions to add to his total.Â

Along with the returners, Hower added graduate student goalie Djordje Stoiljkovic who previously played at Saint Francis Brooklyn. Back in 2019, the Serbian native earned a save percentage of .733 on the 131 shots he faced during 294 minutes in the cage. Stoiljokic's recorded a season-high 14 saves on November 22nd when the Terriers faced off against MIT.Â

From October 28th to October 29th, the Seahawks will host three games at the Spiro Sports Center. On Saturday, Wagner will compete against MWAPC rivals Mount St. Mary's and George Washington, before squaring off against Bucknell on the second day of competition.Â

This is the third straight year that the Seahawks begin their season at the Bruno Classic. Wagner will play 28 regular season games before heading to the MAWPC Championships from November 17th to November 19th in Lewisburg, PA. Last season, the Green & White had a win percentage of .625% against conference opponents, finishing with their highest conference win total with 10.Â

After the Bruno Classic, Wagner will head to the Princeton Invite from Saturday, September 8th to Monday, September 10th, for another their second four-game-slate of the season.
