Easton, PA - The Wagner College field hockey team dropped its first contest of the 2023 season 5-0 at Lafayette Friday night.
The Leopards opened the scoring 5:10 into the contest as they held the 1-0 lead for the remainder of the opening quarter. In his first career start in goal for the Seahawks, sophomore Sam Black made one stop in the opening 15 minutes.
In the second quarter, the Seahawks tallied two shots including one on goal from senior Natalie Rocuskie. Lafayette added two goals in the second frame to take a 3-0 lead into halftime. Sam Black added three more saves in the second frame to bring her first half total to four.
Lafayette went on to add two more goals in the second half to bring their game total to five.
As a team, the Seahawks tallied four shots while
Natalie Rocuskie and graduate student Laura Van Hamburg tallied shots on goal.
Sam Black stopped six shots in the contest.
Wagner will be back in action on Friday, September 1 when they travel to Hempstead, NY to take on Hofstra at 3:00 pm.
