Bridgeport, CT - The Wagner baseball team completed its third sweep of the season and second of conference play with a 10-5 victory over Sacred Heart on Saturday.
It was another late-inning rally put together by the Seahawks that catapulted them to victory.
Trailing by one run with two outs in the top of the eighth, the Green & White tallied seven runs to take control of the contest.
Senior Cody Bey got the scoring started with a bases-loaded walk to tie the game. Senior Griffin Selby then gave the Seahawks their first lead of the day with a two-RBI single.
The next batter, senior DiMaggio Cazares, hit a two-run home run to break the game open. Senior Dante Faicchio then went back-to-back with Cazares on a solo shot to center field to make it 10-4.
Sacred Heart added a run to their total in the next half inning, but couldn't rally against the stellar pitching of senior Ruben Del Castillo.
After sophomore Frankie Wright — who allowed one earned run and struck out seven — was pulled, Del Castillo induced eight ground balls across five innings to earn the win.
It was a crucial series sweep for the Seahawks and they will look to continue winning in their next matchup against Villanova on Tuesday, April 25.
