Men’s Tennis Earns 4-3 Win Over Saint Francis University

Staten Island, NY - The Wagner men's tennis team hosted Northeast Conference (NEC) opponent Saint Francis University, and was able to secure a 4-3 win at the CSI Tennis Courts on Saturday. Giving the Seahawks their first conference win of the season.

The Seahawks came out with focus during the doubles. The junior duo of Rodrigo Perez and Odeda Arazza were quick off the court at #2 with a 6-1 win over SFU's Christian Banti and Jordi Garcia. 

Seniors Tejasvi Mehra and Omar Loutfy got an early break and never looked back, clinching the doubles point at #1 over Adam Kush and Gregory Troyan, 6-3. 

In singles, the Seahawks got straight set wins from Tejasvi Mehra, 6-2, 6-0 over Christian Banti, and from Odeda Arazza, 6-1, 6-4 over SFU's Matt Kozar. 

Down 3-0, Saint Francis took singles points behind Jordi Garcia at #3 and Adam Kush at #1. However, Wagner freshman Sebastian Dobson, seeing his first action of the spring, sealed the win for Wagner with a 6-2, 6-4 triumph on court #6.

The win for Wagner is its first in NEC play in nearly 4 years.

Next up, the Seahawks will travel to Harrison, NY for a dual with the Fordham Rams this Saturday, March 11th at 5:00 pm.
