Riverside, CA – The Wagner College softball team dropped a pair of games on day two of its California road trip, falling 4-1 to UC Santa Barbara before dropping an 8-0 decision to Cal Baptist in game two.
Game 1 Recap: UCSB 4-1 Wagner
The Seahawks got on the board in the seventh inning. Graduate student
Penelope Russ led off the inning with a double. Two batters later, an RBI by senior
Alexa Garcia brought home Russ, but it wasn't enough, as UCSB came away with the 4-1 victory.
The Gauchos opened the scoring with two runs in the third and added one run apiece in the fifth and sixth inning.
Junior
Samantha Tran led the Green and White with two hits, while Russ, sophomore
Justine Carranza, and freshman
Payton Janicki also recorded hits for the Seahawks.
In the circle, freshman
Natalie Rodriguez was charged with the loss after striking out two batters in six innings.
Game 2 Recap: Cal Baptist 8-0 Wagner
Cal Baptist's Alyssa Argomaniz did not allow a hit during the entirety of the contest, as the Lancers earned the 8-0 victory in five innings.
Down 1-0, Wagner threatened in the third, as an error allowed Tran to reach base, while freshman
Jordyn Dulken and Carranza drew consecutive walks to load the bases, but the Seahawks couldn't capitalize.
The Lancers added one run in the fourth and six runs in the fifth to earn the win.

Eve Harvey was charged with the loss in the circle.
Wagner will round out its road trip with a matchup at UC Riverside on Sunday at 1 pm PT.
