Princeton, NJ – The Wagner College women's water polo team dropped its final non-conference contest to Princeton, 15-12 on Thursday evening.
After sophomore
Carlota Alonso opened the scoring in the contest, Princeton launched a 5-0 run. Senior
Abbey Simshauser scored Wagner's second goal with six seconds left in the first as Princeton held a 5-2 lead after the first quarter.
Princeton outscored Wagner 3-1 in the second quarter as
Carlota Alonso scored the lone goal fort Wagner in the second frame. The Tigers took an 8-3 lead into halftime.
Both teams tallied three goals in the third quarter as
Carlota Alonso,
Abbey Simshauser and junior
Mar Navarro tallied one goal each for Wagner.
Despite outscoring the Tigers 6-4 in the fourth quarter, it wasn't enough as Wagner dropped its fifth game of the season.
Abbey Simshauser netted three goals in the final eight minutes which gave her five for the game.
Mar Navarro chipped in two goals in the fourth as she finished with three.
Wagner will be back in action this weekend when travel Lexington, VA to take on St. Francis Brooklyn on Saturday, April 1 before taking on Siena and Mount St. Mary's on Sunday, April 2.
