Staten Island, NY – The Wagner College women's water team began Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) play with three wins at the Spiro Sports Center this weekend.
Wagner began the weekend on Saturday with a 27-10 victory over VMI. The Green & White opened up a 7-0 lead in the first quarter and never looked back,
Sophomore
Carlota Alonso led the way for Wagner offensively with five goals as junior
Andrea Arias found the back of the net four times. Senior
Abbey Simshauser also chipped in a hat trick against the Keydets.
Wagner opened Sunday with a 16-7 victory over La Salle. The Seahawks outscored the Explorers 4-0 in the opening frame. In the second quarter, the Green & White outscored La Salle 5-3 to take a 9-3 lead into halftime.
Wagner held La Salle to just one goal in the third quarter while finding the back of the net four times to take a 13-4 lead into the fourth quarter. Both teams tallied three goals each in the fourth as Wagner was able to preserve the win.
Abbey Simshauser tallied a hat trick for Wagner while junior
Mar Navarro netted two goals while dishing out three assists against La Salle.
Wagner wrapped up the weekend with an 18-9 win over Villanova.

The three wins this weekend brings Wagner to 20-4 overall and 3-0 in conference play.
The Seahawks will continue conference play on Saturday, March 25 when they take on LIU and La Salle in Philadelphia, PA.
