Annapolis, MD - The Wagner College men's tennis team opened its spring season at the Brigade Sports Complex at the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis on Sunday.
In singles competition, Navy's junior Sasha Panyan defeated junior Rodrigo Perez at #1 with set scores 6-0 and 6-4.
Graduate student Philip Lynch and dropped his match to Navy senior Gavin Segraves. As well as senior Tejasvi Mehra losing his match to sophomore Luke Garner.
Junior Odeda Arazza and senior Omar Loutfy fought hard against freshman Herrick Legaspi and senior Christian Pumpelly, but both went down after two sets.
In doubles action, Tejasvi Mehra and Omar Loutfy fell to Navy's Sasha Panyan and Luke Garner 6-2 in straight sets.
Rodridgo Perez and Odeda Arazza were defeated by Navy seniors Christian Pumpelly and Gavin Segraves, and Philip Lynch and senior Jai Sai Venkatramana lost to Navy junior Nicholas Nguyen and Herrick Legaspi by a score of 6-3.
The Midshipmen prevailed 7-0 over the Seahawks.
Next for the Seahawks, the men's team travels to St. John's on Friday. for a doubleheader at the USTA's Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Queens.
