Staten Island, NY – The Wagner College men's lacrosse team dropped a non-conference contest against Monmouth, 9-4, at Hameline Field on Tuesday evening.
Wagner opened the scoring when sophomore
Patrick Caldwell netted his first goal of the season. The Hawks went on to end the first quarter on a 4-0 run.
Down 4-1 early in the second quarter, senior
Benjamin Stewart cut into the Monmouth lead with a goal. After the Stewart goal, both teams netted one goal each throughout the second. Freshman
Chase Alber tallied his first career goal as a member of the Seahawks in the second.
Wagner's lone goal of the second half came from sophomore
Ethan Sieb, his goal cut the Monmouth lead to 5-4. The Hawks closed the game on a 4-0 run to preserve a 9-4 victory.
Senior goalkeeper and reigning Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Defensive Player of the Week stopped 17 shots in the contest.
Wagner will be back in action on Saturday, March 4 when they travel to Newark, NJ to take on NJIT at 12:00 pm.
