Women’s Basketball Hosts Saint Francis U On Senior Day

Staten Island, NY – The Wagner College women's basketball team will play host to Saint Francis U on Saturday at 3:00 pm. Prior to tip-off, the Seahawks will honor their seniors in a pregame ceremony.

Thank You Seniors
Prior to Saturday's game, Wagner will honor two players for a senior day ceremony: senior Drayah Heyward and redshirt junior Alex Cowan.

Last Time Out
Wagner dropped a Northeast Conference (NEC) contest at Stonehill 73-66 on Thursday night. Junior Julia Fabozzi led the way offensively for the Green & White with 20 points on 7-13 shooting and five rebounds. Alex Cowan chipped in 16 points as well for the Seahawks.

Postseason Picture
With two games to play in the regular season, the postseason picture in the NEC is still wide open. Fairleigh Dickinson sits atop the NEC with Sacred Heart behind them in second place. St. Francis Brooklyn and Merrimack sit tied for third as Wagner sits behind the two.

Alex Cowan Continues To Impress
Alex is averaging 15.3 points per game through conference play and is averaging 13.7 points per game throughout this season.

The Bowie, MD native has notched over 20 points in six games this season and has reached this feat in three out of the last six games.

Cowan has scored in double figures in 18 out of 25 games this season as her 13.6 points per game ranked sixth in the NEC entering the week.

More Than A Floor General
Returning as last season's NEC assist leader, Zhaneia Thybulle has returned to lead the conference with 4.2 assists per contest. The Elmont, NY native is also averaging double figures this season with 10.8 points per game which is good for 13th in the circuit.

Thybulle is averaging 12.1 points per game through conference play this season.

Thybulle notched the NEC's first triple-double against LIU on February 11. The triple-double was the third in program history and the first for an NEC performer since 2021. Thybulle has registered five or more assists nine times this season.

Defensive DNA
Entering this week, Wagner's +5.62 turnover margin was good for 15th in the NCAA while the team's 21.12 forced turnovers per game was good for 11th in the nation.

Last Time Against Saint Francis U
Wagner made history in its first game this season against the Red Flash. Wagner opened NEC play with a 76-25 win in Loretto, PA, tied for the highest margin of victory in program history a record that lasted since December 8, 1982 when Wagner defeated St. Francis NY 97-46.

The Green & White forced a season-high 34 turnovers which resulted on 41 points off of turnovers from Wagner. The Seahawks also held the Red Flash to six points in the first half.

Scouting Saint Francis U
Saint Francis U enters Wagner with a 7-20 overall record and a 6-9 mark in NEC play. The Red Flash fell to Fairleigh Dickinson 63-39 on Thursday night.

What's Next
Wagner will wrap up the regular season when they travel to Fairfield, CT to take on Sacred Heart on Thursday, March 2 at 7:00 pm.
