Staten Island, NY - The Wagner men's basketball team's two-game win streak came to a close on Sunday afternoon at the Spiro Sports Center with a 73-59 loss to Boston University. This marks the first loss at home for the Seahawks this season.
Junior Zaire Williams followed up his career-best performance at Coppin State with a team-high 15 points versus the Terriers. Fellow junior Tahron Allen and sophomore Julian Brown also reached double-digit scoring on the day with 13 and 10 points, respectively.
Junior Tyje Kelton, Williams, and Brown drilled two threes apiece as the Green & White got off to a hot start offensively in the first half. A basket by junior Rob Taylor II put the Seahawks up 19-11 with 9:42 to play, which proved to be Wagner's biggest lead of the contest.
From there, the Terriers rallied and led 30-28 at the intermission.
The Terriers carried their momentum into the second half, starting off on a 7-0 run. Allen tried to will the Seahawks back into contention with 13 second-half points, but the road team answered every call as they led by double-digits for a majority of the half. Boston University connected on 60% (15-25) of field goal attempts in the second half to secure the victory.
Wagner drops to 4-5 with the loss at home, while Boston University improves to 4-6.
