Bronx, NY – The Wagner College men's basketball team led 31-23 at the half, but it wasn't enough, as the Seahawks fell 68-64 in overtime at Fordham in the season-opener for both teams on Monday night.

Melvin Council Jr. and
Tyje Kelton combined for 38 points, with Council leading all scorers with 21 points on 8-16 shooting. Senior
Rahmir Moore was the third Seahawk in double figures with 12 points.
In a game that featured 10 ties and 10 lead changes, the Seahawks trailed by four at 60-56 with 31 seconds to play, but baskets by Kelton and Moore and key stops defensively knotted the score up at 60-60 to send the game to overtime.
Council scored the first points of the overtime period, but the Rams closed out the game on an 8-2 run to earn the victory.
The Seahawks held a 44-39 edge on the glass and 14-7 lead in second chance points.
In the first half, an 8-0 Wagner run gave the Green and White an early advantage midway through the period. The Seahawks led by as many as nine points three minutes into the second half and converted 24-62 (38.7%) of field goal attempts on the night.
Next up, Wagner will host Division III member Molloy for the Seahawks' home opener on Thursday night at 7:00 pm at the Spiro Sports Center.
